When is the best time to cut my hedges

September and October is the best time to cut and trim your hedges as this allows the nesting birds season to finish and fledgelings have flown. Otherwise, we would be in breach of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and the Conservation of habitats’ and species regs. 2012 (amendments).

Birds nesting season is between March and August but it is always best to leave disturbing and noisy work for another month just in case we have a prolonged summer (fingers crossed).
